My name is
Jo Hockenhull and I am studying for a PhD at the University of Chester. My
research explores the welfare of horses in the UK and I would be grateful for some
help from your members if at all possible.

At present there is very little data available regarding how UK horse owners (or
carers) keep and look after their horses. Generating more information about how
people maintain their horses and the issues they have with them will enable future
research to be directed towards areas of concern relevant to horse owners and
their horses.

I have developed 3 online surveys covering management, feeding and training and
equipment to find out about the practices employed by horse owners. The surveys
will be online until November 2007 so that

vary across seasons. I would like to reach as many horse owners as possible and
I was wondering whether you would be able to distribute this information to your
members via your newsletter and/or website? I have some fliers with information
about the surveys (including the webpage link) that I can send to any interested
members for further distribution e.g. at competition venues, livery yards etc. The
